In 1899 the Star China Co. opened for business, and it was this pottery that later changed it's name to the Paragon China Company in 1919. Very quickly Paragon became well known for it's very high quality tea, coffee, breakfast and dessert ware. Later between the wars they became famous for their nursery wares including designs by Chloe Preston. After the Second World War they extended their ranges to include animal figures, ashtrays and other giftware, and their services began to expand to cover full dinner, tea and coffee services along with complimentary items. In 1960 T C Wild & Sons took over and they merged two years later with the Lawley Group. This was not the end of the changes for Paragon however, as they were to become part of the Royal Doulton Group in 1968. Royal Albert, another member of the Royal Doulton Group absorbed the Paragon name into their backstamps and duly replaced it from 1989.
The objective of this gallery is to display photographs of the many discontinued designs from the Paragon China Compnay. The gallery will include retired tableware, collectibles and giftware. We hope that this will serve as a useful point of reference for those people trying to identify their obsolete dinner sets, tea services and collectables.
Due to the number of discontinued lines and therefore images it has been necessary to place the images under their corresponding first letter to reduce download time. So if you do not know the first letter of your discontinued design name, we are afraid it's a case of searching through.
Should you see a flashing lightbulb like the one below, then there is a special offer on the Paragon crockery you are viewing. Clicking on the lightbulb will take you directly to our Special Offers page.
Development of these pages is on ongoing project so keep checking back.
